DoubleACS would like to invite the greater Attleboro community to attend the premiere showing of the documentary “Thompson Chemical” on Saturday, June 19th at 7PM in Attleboro High School’s Bray Auditorium. “Thompson Chemical”, the studio’s first full-length documentary, tells the story about the chemical plant explosion on January 12, 1964 that killed 7 workers and damaged numerous homes in the Hebronville section of Attleboro and in neighboring Seekonk.
What started out a year ago as found film canisters has turned into a commitment by the DoubleACS studio and its staff to document a momentous and a tragic event in the history of Attleboro and, in particular, the history of the Hebronville community.
Through interviews with residents, firefighters, police officers, and Thompson Chemical employees, we learn not only about the explosion and destruction it caused, but we also learn of its impact on the Hebronville community. Ensuring that future generations will understand what the explosion and its aftermath meant to those who lived through it.
After the showing there will be an opportunity for the public to speak with the DoubleACS staff about the project as well as the people who shared their experiences, making this documentary possible.
